RP(Qualfiying)
Alfred Yau, B.Comm., MACP, RP(Qualifying)
I work with couples and individuals to quickly identify recurring patterns and create meaningful alternatives to repeated, unwanted outcomes. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as an actuary, a profession grounded in precision, analysis, and long-range thinking. This background uniquely shapes my approach to therapy: thoughtful, strategic, and deeply attuned to patterns beneath the surface. I bring the same depth and intellectual curiosity to understanding the human experience, helping clients uncover insights that are often missed in more conventional approaches.
My work integrates critical thinking, emotional awareness, and a somatic (body-based) perspective. I pay close attention not only to thoughts and emotions, but also to how experiences live in the body; through tension, impulses, sensations, and nervous system responses. Together, we explore when emotions are asking to be listened to, when they may need to be gently challenged, and how both emotional and bodily signals can be used effectively to navigate life’s challenges. This approach helps move change from intellectual understanding into lived, embodied experience.
I specialize in working with individuals and couples who feel stuck or not fully understood, often despite years of insight or effort. If you’re looking for a therapist who can think outside the box, meet you with warmth and precision, and help you stop living the life others expect you to live, while reconnecting with what feels true in your body and inner experience, I would be honoured to work with you.
